MOF plays a vital role not only in developing the needed plans for implementing national fiscal policy, mobilizing and collecting public revenues, overseeing public expenditures and organizing relevant accounts in accordance with applicable fiscal legislation, but also in supporting economic growth and harmonizing fiscal and monetary policies in cooperation and coordination with the Central Bank of Jordan to best serve national economy.
In the area of studies, MOF conducts fiscal, monetary and economic studies and analyses, carries out assessments of tax policies and procedures. It also reviews cases that may give rise to legal rights for the government, or require legal actions to be brought in competent courts and follow up on them.
The tasks and responsibilities of MOF also include managing civil and military retirement in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, and managing the assets of the Social Security Fund and the Savings Fund for employees and contractors.
In addition, MOF drafts, improves and updates fiscal legislation concerning public revenues and expenditures, and cooperates with competent authorities to draft and follow up on the implementation of economic and social development plans.
Central to service delivery processes, human resources have always been regarded by MOF as an area that demands special attention as well as cooperation and coordination with other ministries and government departments.
